Recovering From an Incisional Hernia Repair

So I have been kind of off and on lately, even on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc as I am still recovering from an Incisional Hernia Repair (aka Ventral Hernia Repair). Due to having an infection in the area that they did the hernia repair, just the smallest little thing that looks out of place to me sends me into a panic. 5 years ago I got necrotizing fasciitis from a simple tubal ligation surgery. I had told dr's that there was something wrong, that something was not right, but I kept getting blown off and treated like I didn't know what I was talking about. And than on Christmas morning I was rushed to the ER because my incision site ruptured open and I was then later rushed in for an emergency surgery. The infection was only 24-48 hours away from becoming toxic. My children were so young at the time (10, 8, 5, and 8 days old), so just the smallest little thing that looks odd to me, I go a little crazy.

3 days after surgery, I have a drain tube put in as well
Since I had my hernia repair surgery I have been dealing with a lot of pain (duh of course, it's surgery). But with it being 5 weeks since my surgery (February 8th was my surgery date), I have been still dealing with quite a bit of pain to where I will actually lose a lot of sleep and my body just becomes totally drained. I have been to the ER 4 times since to hopefully figure out what is going on and why I keep dealing with a ripping pain, but I just get a run around. I finally saw my General Surgeon (the one that did the surgery) and he believes that it is the sutures that are causing my pain at the moment. So on my visit on the 13th of this month he did a local numbing shot into my abdomen. It worked, for the most part, but I am still dealing with quite a bit of pain.

I have been stuck in bed off and on because of the pain. And because of being stuck in bed, my
5 days after surgery, no I do not have a belly button as I

surgery
bulging discs in my lower back have been causing a lot of issues as well and causing a lot of pain. I have to make an appt to go back in to see my surgeon and get another injection, but a part of me is putting it off, because I just don't think that I can handle going in every 2 days to get the injection into my abdomen. The first one hurt bad enough, so going in every 2 days is just not something I can handle.

I continue to take it easy and rest as much as possible. Patiently waiting for the sutures to dissolve (which can take 3-4 months). In the meantime I will just continue to do what needs to be done and rest. Although being home all day is driving me crazy #lol One personal can only handle being locked up in an apt all day for so long. With my husband going to school during the day and than working until 4pm, I don't get the opportunity to leave unless it's the weekend and we have errands to run. Riding in the car still causes pain and well even driving can be painful still. I am still on pain meds too, which by now, being 5 weeks post-op, I should be off of pain medication and just tolerating things on my own, but that's just the story of my life I guess #lol
